ReefPods™ Tisbe is a live culture of the harpacticoid copepod Tisbe biminiensis. Tisbe adult copepods live on bottom substrate such as live rock or sand and will eat detritus and microalage in the aquarium. They produce a small nauplii which is an excellent food for aquarium filter feeders and fish larvae. The adults are eaten by small bottom feeding fish such as gobies, dragonettes and blennies.

ReefPods™ Tisbe may be used as a starter culture to add to marine aquarium refugiums or the main tank. Once established they will reproduce quickly, growing from nauplii to adults in about nine days. They will thrive in a wide range of aquarium temperatures and a wide range of salinities. It is suggested they be added to the aquarium at night or to the refugium to avoid immediate fish predation.

Tisbe is an excellent all purpose aquarium copepod owing to its role in the natural environment as a detritivore. An opportunist feeder, Tisbe can be used as a tank cleaner consuming uneaten food and wastes as well as phytoplankton in the tank and refugium. Tisbe is capable of producing many eggs during its adult life span that hatch into nauplii which will enter the water column as food for your filter feeding reef inhabitants and replenish the adult population vital to tank hygiene. Tisbe adults and juveniles may also enter the water column and be tasty and nutritious treats for your reef fish!

ReefPods™ Tangerine is a live culture of a large unidentified calanoid copepod, most likely in the Family Temoridae. Tangerine adult copepods live in the water column and will eat small suspended detritus particles and microalgae in the aquarium. They produce a large nauplii which is an excellent food for aquarium filter feeders and fish larvae. The adults are eaten by numerous water-column feeding fish such as clowns, dwarf angels, anthias and seahorses, to name just a few.

ReefPods™ Tangerine may be used as a starter culture to establish populations in marine aquarium refugiums or the main tank when PhycoPure™ CopePod Blend is added as directed. Although not as easily established as Tisbe, once established they will reproduce quickly, growing from nauplii to reproductive adults in about 15 days.

They are sub-tropical and will thrive in normal aquarium temperatures and a wide range of salinities. It is suggested they be added to the aquarium at night or to the refugium to avoid immediate fish predation.

ReefPods™ Tangerine may be cultured separately in a small tank by feeding PhycoPure™ CopePod Blend™. The nauplii are 100-200 micrometers wide, making them suitable for many fish larvae. Adults may be harvested for feeding juvenile seahorses and other small fish.

Tigger-Pods are perfect for culturing and restocking reeftanks & refugiums, as well as an excellent feed for fish, including mandarins and pipefish. They breed rapidly producing hundreds of eggs per female.

Tigger-Pods® Care and Feeding

Copepods are relatively easy to care for and maintain. They feed primarily on brown microalgae and can be fed products such as Phyto-Feast. They can also feed on green algae such as Nannochloropsis and Tetraselmis, however most of these algae will pass right through their digestive tracts and not provide any nutrition.

Copepods can live in your main tank, your refugium, or in a separate dedicated system. In your main tank they will be eaten and depleted by your fish and corals. In your refugium they will thrive since there are no predators. Pods from your refugium can be periodically harvest and fed to your main tank.

Copepods like to hide so they will prefer an environment with nooks and crannies. In your main tank they will hide in your live rock and gravel. In your refugium they will hide in your macroalgae and other plants.

Directions for Feeding while in the 6 oz bottle

If you are going to keep them in the bottles for an extended period, remove the lid to increase oxygen in the water and put them in a refrigerator between 34 and 40 F. At this temperature they will go into hibernation and require very little oxygen or food. Alternatively, store the bottle in a cool place with the lid removed and feed them 3 drops of Phyto-Feast® every 2-3 days

Directions for Feeding in a refugium

Add 5 drops of Phyto-Feast® daily for each gallon of water in your refugium. (i.e. a 25 gallon refugium should get 125 drops. 1 teaspoon = 76 drops).

The Aqualight Power Center Timer is a day-night dual timer device that provides complete 24-hour lighting cycles. With this timer you can do the dawn/dusk effect and also control lunar lights during the night.

-Made specifically for Coralife Aqualights, but will work just as well with any brand of lighting including Current USA, Hamilton Metal Halides, Deep Blue, etc.

-Controls 3 Sets of Lights (i.e. daylight bulbs, actinic bulbs and LED Lights). The alternating timer controls up to two Power Compact Actinic Outlets and two Lunar Light Outlets.
