Description: These are three of our most colorful
and popular varieties of Chalice Corals. Chalice corals are in
the Large Polyp Stoney family, called LPS corals. Aquatic Connection
Lives Aquacultured Super Colored Fancy Chalice 3 Pack gives you
a fully mounted frag of all 3 specimens shown above. The Super
Colored Fancy Chalice Coral 3 Pack is mounted on a small reefsafe
ceramic plugs that can be securely placed in the reef aquarium.
Relatively new to the reef aquarium hobby, Echinophyllia Aspera
deserve the reputation as some of the most beautiful and colorful
corals, making our Aquacultured Super Colored Fancy Chalice 3
Pack a perfect introduction for hobbyists into the world of chalice
corals. The mother colonies for this package are at least 5 generations
old, and like all our corals given a full health inspection before
and after propogation.
Tank Placement: Echinophyllia aspera prefer horizontal
placement in areas of low to medium light lighting and either
low to medium water current, but don't let high lighting keep
you from enjoying these beauties, Echinophyllia will quickly
adapt well to just about any amount of lighting. Considered a
slow but easy coral to grow, it will exhibit both an encrusting
and or plating configuration depending on where in the aquarium
and how in the aquarium it is placed. Echinophyllia are considered
semi-aggressive with small stinging tentacles that come out at
night, so you must keep them seperated by a few inches from other
corals.
Diet and
Feeding: The majority of
nutrition comes from photosynthesis, but they will appreciate
from time to time small meaty marine food, such as baby brine
shrimp, Cyclops, or foods designed for filter feeding invertebrates.
They also will benefit from the addition of calcium, strontium,
and other trace elements.

xxORA Aquacultured Leather 3 Pack
This 3 Pack is made up of the most
popular aquacultured Leathers by our friends at ORA - well suited
for a small reef aquarium or Nano System

ORA Aquacultured Soft Coral
3 Pack contains: ORA Long Polyping Sarcophyton Leather, ORA Popular
Loco Lobo Lobophytum Finger Leather, ORA Taro Tree Coral ,Capnella
sp. |
Description: The ORA Soft Coral Pack is a great start
for the marine aquarist graduating from fish to invertebrate
to full-blown-reef enthusiast. Many soft corals are tolerant
toward aquarium conditions, relatively inexpensive, and more
easily cared for than the small or large polyped true or stony
corals. Soft corals rely on currents to bring them their food
, oxygen, and carry away their wastes.
Tank Requirements:
The best
circulation arrangements involve a good intensity of water movement.
Remember that most soft coral species are found in parts of the
reef with the greatest current levels. All species of soft coral
will appreciate 2 to 4 watts of full-spectrum illumination for
10-12 hours per day.
Diet and
Feeding: All species of soft corals are known
planktivores, consuming phytoplankton in the wild. All soft corals
should therefore be periodically offered such small offerings.
Soft corals are flexible in their placement. They may be placed
in lower lighted areas as long as they receive adequate food
and circulation. A reminder here regarding granting them adequate
space to avoid touching other animal life. Remember to leave
a clear circumference for full expansion and growth.

Nano Tank
Mushroom Coral Pack's
|
Mushrooms, sometimes called mushroom
corals, belong to the order corallimorpharia, and they make ideal
reef animals for marine aquarists entering the reef-keeping hobby.
While mushrooms may resemble
coral and anemones, most species are far easier to keep than
either coral or anemones. Mushrooms simply do not require the
same level of husbandry, largely because they are remarkably
tolerant of a very wide range of environmental conditions. In
short, mushrooms are one of the most forgiving animals for the
novice reef aquarist to consider keeping as he or she hones his
or her reef-keeping skills. |
|
Perfect For Beginner
Reef Tanks!
Description: The
Nano Tank Mushroom Package ships as either FOUR individual mushrooms
or Eight individual mushrooms depending on the package chosen,
attached to rock or gravel. Often times a mushroom may release
itself from the rock or gravel it was adhered to, but will reattach
to a new piece of substrate once adjusted to their new home.
Mushroom
corals, are very hardy corals, and one of the best for the beginner
reef aquarium. Among one of the best beginner corals, they can
even be maintained in aquariums with just sand substrate, live
rock, and an airstone for water movement and oxygenation. This
is because they will tolerate high levels of nitrate and other
organic compounds. They will do even better, and their colors
will brighten in an aquarium with low levels of organic compounds.
Most mushroom coral prefer indirect light or shade so high power
lighting is not required.
So What
do you get?
Every Nano
Mushroom package includes a variety of different species of mushrooms
depending on current availability, and will even include a Super
bright Florida Ricordea. The individual mushrooms are attached
to small pieces of live rock or gravel. By ordering multiple
Nano Mushroom Packages, you can create the ultimate Nano tank
utopia.
Tech Notes
on Mushroom Corals: When
mushrooms are shipped it is normal for them to arrive very small,
fully deflated. Over a period of time (this varies from days
to more than a week), in their new reef aquarium, they will adjust
to their new aquarium conditions and they will open fully becoming
a beautiful addition to the Nano Reef Tank,. The symbiotic algae zooxanthellae hosted within
the mushroom coral provides the majority of its nutritional requirements
from the light driven process of photosynthesis. Mushroom corals
will also benefit from regular feedings of zooplankton and small
meaty items. Place the mushroom coral low in the aquarium until
they open fully, and then gradually over a few weeks, move the
coral to the desired location. To open large, mushroom corals
prefer low water movement within the aquarium.

assortment breaks down to. Try a Nugget Box and strike it rich!
When ordering more than 1 Nugget Box, we will provide a large
variety to help you crate a diverse coral reef aquarium.
General Sizing Information: 1" to 1-1/2". Dimensions
do NOT include the rock itself, just the live coral. Dimension
is the greatest of either the height or width when the coral
is expanded.
Many corals (such as zooanthids) dont grow tall, but rather,
spread out over the rock. So the greatest dimension would be
how far it is spread on the rock, not the height of the polyps. |

Nano Tank Soft
Coral 3 Pack
The Nano Soft Coral Package is an assortment of carefully selected
soft corals that will provide a diversity of color and beauty
in your nano system. A combination of various soft leathers,
polyping corals and mushroom corals that are well suited for
a the nano reef environment, such as the Biocube or Nano Cube.
By incorporating multiple Nano Soft Coral Packages with Aquatic
Connections beautiful Nano Live Rock, you can create an exciting
reef tank out of the miniature nano aquarium environment. We have made our selection
of soft corals to include in this package by their hardiness,
popularity, and suitability to flourish in the nano reef environment.
All of the corals included
do not require supplemental feedings. They pull their nutrition
from a process called photosynthasis. Although not nescessary,
you may find the corals thrive better in the nano environment
with very small feedings of phytoplankton and brine shrimp. Be
careful when suplemental feedings are provided, as the water
quality in the nano environment can deteriorate very quickly.
Recommended Nano aquarium components include both live sand and
live rock. These components give a large boost to the biological
system, needed to make the Nano system thrive. All of the corals
within our Nano Soft Coral Packages will thrive under the standard
nano tank lighting, (compact fluorescent or multiple standard
fluorescent lighting). Since high water flow is not a requirement
for corals in this package, the water flow provided by the main
filtration system of the nano tank is also fine for these corals.
Each Nano Soft Coral Package consists of a mix of 3 different
species of soft corals. Depending on availability, we will include
1 coral from each category. When ordering more than 1 pack, we
will do our best to provide a variety of the corals shown above,
but of course we can not always guarantee this when the diversity
of corals may be low for our coral packages. Approximate Purchase
Size: Varies with species, typically 1" to 2".
A Great Tip! - The addition of replacement actinic bulbs
to fit your tank's lighting system, will greatly enhance the
"look" of your Nano Reef Tanks specimens. |

WE WANT YOUR CORALS TO GROW - NOT JUST
STAY ALIVE
Why Phytoplankton:
Phytoplankton
is very important to marine life. It is the primary producers
in the ocean. Crucial to the development and survival of most,
if not all marine animals . But what is phytoplankton? It is
just a fancy word for tiny floating plants (such as diatoms and
dinoflagellates), which serve the same role in the food chains
of the oceans as grass and shrubs serve on land; namely small
things eat them. Many coral reef animals feed directly on phytoplankton.
Some essential nutrients provided by phytoplankton cannot be
synthesized by animals, and therefore are extremely important
components of a healthy diet. Click
here for more information on the importance of phytoplankton
for your corals |
