THE STRONGEST BIOLOGICAL
Live Sand is used to add both a strong biological and beauty to any saltwater aquarium. Full of beneficial bacteria that break down nitrogen-based waste that is produced by marine life. This waste if not elliminated is what would cause severe harmful chemistry spikes in the aquarium water. Live Sand will benefit not only reef aquariums, but also fish-only tanks that incorporate external filtration.

BENEFICIAL SAND DWELLERS
There are many beneficial types of worms and crustaceans found in the live sand. These dwellers are used by many fish as a natural food source. The grain size of ranges from fine (sugar size) to a medium grade.

RECOMMENDED AMOUNT
The recommended amount is 1 to 1-1/2 pounds per gallon, for a sand layer of up to 2 inches.

ADDITIONAL CRITTERS TO ADD
We recommend incorporating sand-sifting invertebrates such as sand stars, horse shoe crabs or sea cucumbers and serpant stars and/or brittle stars along with your fish to aquariums that contain live sand. These animals will maintain the proper oxygen content in the top layer of the sand, and stir up detritus so that it can be removed from the aquarium by the mechanical filter.

The oceans live sand, collected off of the Gulf of Mexico. This is real live sand. When other websites offer 6 different varieties of sand, you can be sure it's just packaged sand, that hasn't seen the ocean in a long long time. Bagged live sand with special additives, sold as "live sand" to create your biologic bacteria is not what your fish or corals want. Get what the ocean offers you. The real thing, ocean live sand, will instantly start to stabilize your tanks PH and biological balance. Artificially adding bacteria (or cultured bacteria) through chemical additives does not provide the same success rate, no matter what the advertisements say. A mixed texture, it is a tremendous filtration device, looks good, and we highly recommend it's use for anyone interested in building a strong biological environment for their aquarium.

Tahitian Black Marine Sand

Looking for something different. Some people think black sand for saltwater aquariums can damage your equipment and make your fish sick. That completely nonsense. Although most people imagine pure white sand tropical beaches as their ideal holiday’s destination, Black sand for saltwater aquariums is very common in many beaches around the world – and you don’t think the entire ocean floor is covered in white sand, do you? Volcanic originated sand tends to be black, and is quite safe to be used in any aquarium (but preferably for saltwater aquariums.) If you think Black sand for saltwater aquariums would enhance your aquariums look and style, then don’t hesitate for a second. The only catch is: if you have already your fish in there, you should take all precautions – just as you would if you were to use any other kind of sand. The environment inside a fish tank is in a constant and very delicate balance, whenever you remove or add something new into the mix, you should be extra careful. With pure black volcanic sand resting in your aquarium, you can rest assured it will bring out all colors even more. Fish that would look “plain” and “dull” with white sand can now look a lot brighter and colorful. That’s one of the main reasons many people prefer "Black sand for saltwater aquariums" over light ones. For large aquariums you can even use it both, on different areas. It’s up to you to decide how you can put it to good use.
